Psalms 106

Israel’s Rebelliousness and the Lord’s Deliverances.

1
Or Hallelujah!
Praise
Heb Yah
the Lord!
Oh cgive thanks to the Lord, for He dis good;
For eHis lovingkindness is everlasting.
2Who can speak of the fmighty deeds of the Lord,
Or can show forth all His praise?
3How blessed are those who keep
Or judgment
justice,
Many Heb mss read The one who performs
Who ipractice righteousness at all times!

4Remember me, O Lord, in Your jfavor
Lit of
toward Your people;
Visit me with Your salvation,
5That I may see the lprosperity of Your chosen ones,
That I may mrejoice in the gladness of Your nation,
That I may nglory with Your
I.e. people
inheritance.

6 pWe have sinned
Lit with
,
rlike our fathers,
We have committed iniquity, we have behaved wickedly.
7Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your
I.e. wonderful acts
wonders;
They tdid not remember
Lit the multitude of Your lovingkindnesses
Your abundant kindnesses,
But vrebelled by the sea, at the
Lit Sea of Reeds
Red Sea.
8Nevertheless He saved them xfor the sake of His name,
That He might ymake His power known.
9Thus He zrebuked the
Lit Sea of Reeds
Red Sea and it abdried up,
And He acled them through the deeps, as through the wilderness.
10So He adsaved them from the
Or power
hand of the one who hated them,
And afredeemed them from the
Or power
hand of the enemy.
11 ahThe waters covered their adversaries;
Not one of them was left.
12Then they aibelieved His words;
They ajsang His praise.

13They quickly akforgot His works;
They aldid not wait for His counsel,
14But amcraved intensely in the wilderness,
And
Or put God to the test
,
aotempted God in the desert.
15So He apgave them their request,
But aqsent a
Or leanness into their soul
wasting disease among them.

16When they became asenvious of Moses in the camp,
And of Aaron, the holy one of the Lord,
17The atearth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
And engulfed the
Or assembly, band
company of Abiram.
18And a avfire blazed up in their
Or assembly, band
company;
The flame consumed the wicked.

19They axmade a calf in Horeb
And worshiped a molten image.
20Thus they ayexchanged their glory
For the image of an ox that eats grass.
21They azforgot God their Savior,
Who had done bagreat things in Egypt,
22
I.e. Wonderful acts
,
bcWonders in the land of Ham
And awesome things by the
Lit Sea of Reeds
Red Sea.
23Therefore beHe said that He would destroy them,
Had not bfMoses His chosen one stood in the breach before Him,
To turn away His wrath from destroying them.
24Then they bgdespised the bhpleasant land;
They bidid not believe in His word,
25But bjgrumbled in their tents;
They did not listen to the voice of the Lord.
26Therefore He
Lit lifted up His hand
,
blswore to them
That He would cast them down in the wilderness,
27And that He would bmcast their seed among the nations
And bnscatter them in the lands.

28They bojoined themselves also to
Or Baal of Peor
Baal-peor,
And ate bqsacrifices offered to the dead.
29Thus they brprovoked Him to anger with their deeds,
And the plague broke out among them.
30Then Phinehas bsstood up and interposed,
And so the btplague was stayed.
31And it was bureckoned to him for righteousness,
To all generations forever.

32They also bvprovoked Him to wrath at the waters of
Lit strife
Meribah,
So that it bxwent hard with Moses on their account;
33Because they bywere rebellious against
Or his spirit
His Spirit,
He spoke rashly with his lips.

34They cadid not destroy the peoples,
As cbthe Lord commanded them,
35But ccthey mingled with the nations
And learned their
Lit works
practices,
36And ceserved their idols,
cfWhich became a snare to them.
37They even cgsacrificed their sons and their daughters to the chdemons,
38And shed ciinnocent blood,
The blood of their cjsons and their daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And the land was ckpolluted with the blood.
39Thus they became clunclean in their
Lit works
practices,
And cnplayed the harlot in their deeds.

40Therefore the coanger of the Lord was kindled against His people
And He cpabhorred His
I.e. people
,
crinheritance.
41Then csHe gave them into the hand of the
Or Gentiles
nations,
And those who hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies also cuoppressed them,
And they were subdued under their
Lit hand
power.
43Many times He would cwdeliver them;
They, however, were rebellious in their cxcounsel,
And so cysank down in their iniquity.

44Nevertheless He looked upon their distress
When He czheard their cry;
45And He daremembered His covenant for their sake,
And
Lit was sorry
,
dcrelented ddaccording to the greatness of His lovingkindness.
46He also made them de objects of compassion
In the presence of all their captors.

47 dfSave us, O Lord our God,
And dggather us from among the nations,
To give thanks to Your holy name
And
Lit boast
,
diglory in Your praise.
48 djBlessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
From everlasting even to everlasting.
And let all the people say, “Amen.”
Or Hallelujah!
Praise
Heb Yah
the Lord!
